Troubleshooting Attend2 broadband speed problems

Attend2 Internet speedtest - Slow broadband speed

Before you begin troubleshooting the performance of your Attend2 internet connection, we suggest that you run a Attend2 Internet Speed Test to confirm your current internet speed.

It is also a good idea confirm the minimum download speed that you on your broadband package from Attend2.

You can find this information by checking your Attend2 broadband bill, your Attend2 contract or by contacting Attend2.

Likely causes of Attend2’s slow internet performance

Is it the Attend2 broadband that is slow or could it be your device (PC/laptop/phone)?

You need to check the number of applications are running on your device.

The performance issue may be due to over-utilization of your device’s resources i.e RAM/memory/CPU Processor and not an issue with Attend2’s broadband connection.

If you’re on a PC then you can use the task manager to check your CPU and RAM usage.

On any other device, you could try restarting the device which hopefully will shutdown all applications that may be hogging your systems resources.

Run the Attend2 Speedtest on your computer and your mobile phone to check how the speedtest results compare between the 2 devices.

Hopefully this should provide you with more info to work with in terms of if the issue is with your PC/Smartphone or the Attend2 broadband connection.

Is your Wifi network the issue?

The root cause of the performance issue may be your wireless network and not the Attend2 internet connection.

You could rule out the wireless by connecting your computer directly into the Attend2 broadband router with a network cable and run the Attend2 Speed test again.

If the speed improves when you are connected by an ethernet cable, this shows that the issue may be with the wireless.

Possible things to look further into:

  • Are the Wireless channels that you’re using for your wireless network (SSID) overlapping with your neighbours?
  • Is your Wifi signal from the wireless router obstructed?
  • Does the performance get better when your are standing right in-front of the Attend2 wireless router?

Who’s connected to my wireless network?

Have you checked that your wireless network password has not been shared? Do you have an un-secured wireless network? How strong is your wireless network password? It could be time to update it.

Others could be using your Wi-Fi network and eating up all your Attend2 bandwidth by downloading, uploading or even streaming music or videos on your Attend2 broadband connection! Worse still, they could be conducting illegal activities over your Attend2 broadband connection.

Attend2 wireless Slow

There are 3 apps that you can potentially utlise to analyse your wireless network to see who is connected:

The above software scan your Wi-Fi network and show you a list of the devices connected.

Do I need a wireless booster for my Attend2 broadband?

If you discover that you have wireless black holes at your home, a Wifi extender aka a wireless Booster may be the best fix to increase your Wifi signal to cover any coverage holes.

The Wifi booster simply picks up the existing Wifi signal as it is becoming weaker and re-transmits the Wi-Fi network signal to extend it’s reach.

Place the Wifi network booster/extender where your wireless signal from the Attend2 internet router is starting to become weaker.

Place it near where your wireless signal is dropping down to 2 signal bars. Walk around your property with a smartphone to try and establish where this location is.

When did you last upgrade the Attend2 broadband router?

Attend2 ISP router upgrade

The Attend2 and broadband infrastructure, in general, are frequently upgraded to provide new features and improve performance as technology evolves.  Ensure that the Attend2 broadband internet router is running the latest software.

The majority of Attend2 broadband routers allow you to carry out the software upgrade by logging into the Attend2 broadband router and simply clicking a button to perform the upgrade.

If you can’t do this, contact Attend2 and they will be able to do this for you or alternatively, talk you through performing the upgrade yourself.

As well as updating the software, if you have had the same hardware for a long time, it’s probably worth speaking to Attend2 to request for a router upgrade.

Is the root cause of the issue outside your property (at the exchange)?

This is probably the most likely reason for Attend2 broadband performance issues in your area and is more common for broadband connections that are delivered via phone lines.

If you are unsure if this is applicable to you, you should contact Attend2 who will be able to carry out the appropriate line checks to check if there is a fault on the Attend2 internet line.

Is the performance issue due to Attend2 Internet congestion?

If you’re finding that the Attend2 broadband connection speed in your area is slow during certain periods i.e. over weekends or during the evening, it may be due to congestion during peak hours.

You should contact Attend2 to find out your guaranteed speed.
