Troubleshooting ADSL24 broadband performance problems

Before you begin troubleshooting the performance of your ADSL24 broadband connection, we suggest that you perform a ADSL24 Broadband Speed Test to benchmark your current internet speed.

Likely causes of ADSL24’s slow internet performance

Is it the ADSL24 broadband that is slow or is it your device (PC/laptop/phone)?

Is your wireless the cause of the issue?

The root cause of the performance problem may be your Wi-Fi network and not the ADSL24 broadband connection.

You could rule out the Wifi by connecting your computer directly to the ADSL24 broadband router using an ethernet cable and then run the ADSL24 Speedtest again.

If the speed test result is better when you are connected using an ethernet cable, this suggests that the issue may be with your internal wireless network.

Possible things to investigate:

• Are the Wireless channels that you are using for your Wi-Fi network network (SSID) overlapping with your neighbours?
• Is the Wifi signal from the broadband router obstructed?
• Does your performance improve when you’re stood right infront of the ADSL24 wireless router?

Have you checked that your Wi-Fi network password has not been compromised? Do you have an open wireless network? How secure is your Wi-Fi network password? It may be time to change it.

Neighbours could be using your Wifi network and eating up all the ADSL24 speed by downloading, uploading or even streaming music or video over your ADSL24 internet connection! Worse than that, they could be conducting illegal activities over your ADSL24 broadband connection.
