How to troubleshoot Aquiss broadband performance problems

Potential causes of Aquiss’s slow broadband speed

Is it your Aquiss broadband that is slow or could it be your device (PC/laptop/phone)?

You may need to check how many applications are running on your device.

Is your wireless the cause of the performance issue?

The cause of the performance problem could be your Wi-Fi network as opposed to the Aquiss broadband internet connection.

You could rule out the Wifi network by connecting your PC directly to the Aquiss broadband router with an ethernet cable and then run the Aquiss Speedtest again.

If the performance is better when you are connected by an ethernet cable, this proves that the problem may be with your internal wireless network.

A number of things to investigate:

• Are the Wireless channels that you are using for your Wifi network (SSID) overlapping with the neighbours?
• Is the wireless network signal from the internet router obstructed?
• Does your speed improve when your are stood directly in-front of the Aquiss broadband router?

Have you checked that your wireless network password has not been hacked? Do you have an un-secured Wifi network? How complex is your Wifi network password? It could be time to change it.

This is probably the most common reason for Aquiss broadband performance problems in your property and is more common with broadband connections that are delivered via copper phone lines.

If you are not sure if this is applicable to you, you should contact Aquiss who will be able to carry out the appropriate line tests to check if there is a fault on the Aquiss broadband line.

Is it because of Aquiss broadband congestion?

If you’re finding that the Aquiss internet connection speed in your area is slow during certain times e.g over weekends and during the evening, then it may be due to congestion during peak hours.
