Troubleshooting Attend2 internet performance problems
Before you start troubleshooting the performance of your Attend2 internet connection, we recommend that you perform a Attend2 Broadband Speed Test to measure your current internet speed.
Also confirm the guaranteed minimum download speed you on your broadband package from Attend2.
You can get this information by checking a Attend2 broadband bill, your Attend2 contract or by contacting Attend2.
Common causes of Attend2’s slow broadband performance
Is it your Attend2 broadband that is running slow or is it your device (laptop/smartphone/PC)?
You need to consider the number of applications are running on your device.
The performance issue could be due to the over-utilisation of your system resources e.g Memory/CPU Processor and not a problem with Attend2’s internet connection.
If you are on a PC then you can use the task manager to check your Processor and Memory utilisation.
On other device, you could try rebooting the device which hopefully will shut down all applications that may be hogging system resources.
Re-run the Attend2 Speed test on your computer and your phone to see how the speedtest results compare between the two devices.
Hopefully this should provide you with some info to work with in terms of if the issue is with your device or the Attend2 internet connection.

Is your Wifi network the cause of the slowness?
The cause of the performance problem could be your wireless as opposed to the Attend2 internet connection.
You could rule out the wireless network by simply connecting your PC directly into the Attend2 broadband router with a network cable and run the Attend2 Speed checker again.
If the result improves when you’re connected using an ethernet cable, this proves that the issue could be with your wireless.
Possible things to investigate:
- Are the Wireless channels that you’re using for your Wi-Fi network network (SSID) overlapping with your neighbors?
- Is your wireless network signal from the internet router obstructed?
- Does your speed get better when your are standing right infront of the Attend2 internet router?
Who is connected to my wireless network?
Have you checked that your wireless network password has not been compromised? Do you have an un-secured wireless network? How secure is your Wifi network password? It may be time to change it.
Neighbours could be using your wireless network and using up all your Attend2 speed by downloading, uploading or even streaming music or videos over your Attend2 broadband connection! Worse than that, they could be conducting illegal activities over your Attend2 broadband connection.
Here are 3 applications that you can use to analyze your Wi-Fi network to check who’s connected:
- Windows users can use Wireless network watcher
- MAC users can use whoFi (who is on my Wifi)
- wifi network scanning application WiFi Analyzer
The above apps analyse your Wifi network and show you a list of the devices connected.
Should I get a Wifi network booster for my Attend2 broadband?
If you find that you have Wi-Fi black holes at your home, a Wi-Fi network extender also known as a wireless Booster may be the best solution to increase your Wi-Fi signal to cover any black spots.
The wireless extender simply picks up your existing Wi-Fi network signal just as it is starting to become weaker and re-transmits the Wifi signal to increase it’s reach.
Place the wireless network booster/extender near the position where your wireless signal from the Attend2 internet router is becoming weaker.
Position it near where your Wifi network signal drops down to 2 signal bars. Walk around your house with a tablet to determine where this is.
When was the last time you upgraded the Attend2 broadband router?
The Attend2 and broadband infrastructure, in general, are frequently upgraded to support new features and improve performance as technology evolves. Ensure that the Attend2 broadband internet router is running the most up-to-date software.
The majority of Attend2 internet routers will allow you to perform the software upgrade by simply logging on the Attend2 broadband router and simply clicking a button to do the update.
If you can’t do this, contact Attend2 and they will perform the upgrade for you or guide you through performing the upgrade yourself.
In addition to updating the software, if you have had the same router for a long time, it is worth talking to Attend2 to ask for a hardware upgrade.
Is the fault external to your home (at the exchange)?
This is probably the most common reason for Attend2 broadband performance problems in your area and is more common with internet broadband connections that are delivered using phone lines.
If you’re unsure if this is applicable to you, you should contact Attend2 who should be able to run the appropriate line tests to see if there is a issue on the Attend2 broadband connection.
Is the issue due to Attend2 Internet congestion?
If you are finding that the Attend2 internet connection speed in your area is slow during certain periods i.e. over weekends or evenings, then it may be because of congestion during peak times.
You should contact Attend2 to find out your guaranteed speed.
