Troubleshooting Avanti internet speed problems

Is your wireless network the cause of the issue?

The root cause of the performance issue could be your Wi-Fi network and not the Avanti broadband internet connection.

You could rule out the Wifi network by simply connecting your computer directly to the Avanti broadband router using a network cable and then run the Avanti Speed checker again.

If the performance is better when you’re connected by a network cable, this suggests that the issue may be with your internal wireless network.

A few other things to investigate:

• Are the WiFi channels that you are using for your wireless network (SSID) overlapping with your neighbours?
• Is the wireless network signal from the broadband router obstructed?
• Does your performance get better when you’re stood directly infront of the Avanti internet router?

Who’s connected to my wireless network?

Have you checked that your Wifi network password has not been compromised? Do you have an un-secured Wi-Fi network? How complex is your Wi-Fi network password? It may be time to update it.

Neighbours could be on your wireless network and eating up all the Avanti bandwidth by downloading, uploading or even streaming music or video on your Avanti internet connection! Worse than that, they could be carrying out illegal activities over your Avanti broadband connection.
