Troubleshooting Future Internet broadband speed problems

Before starting to troubleshoot the speed of your Future Internet internet connection, we suggest that you perform a Future Internet Internet Speed Test to benchmark your current broadband speed.

Is the Wifi network the problem?

The cause of the performance problem could be your Wifi network as opposed to the Future Internet internet connection.

You can rule out the wireless network by connecting your computer directly to the Future Internet broadband router with a network cable and then run the Future Internet Speed test again.

If the result improves when you’re connected using a network cable, this shows that the problem could be with your Wifi.

Possible things to investigate:

• Are the Wireless channels that you are using for your wireless network network (SSID) overlapping with your neighbours?
• Is the Wifi signal from the wireless router obstructed?
• Does the speed improve when you’re stood directly infront of the Future Internet broadband router?

Have you checked that your Wi-Fi network password has not been hacked? Do you have an un-secured wireless network? How strong is your Wi-Fi network password? It could be time to update it.
