Troubleshooting Oosha broadband performance problems

Before you begin troubleshooting the speed of your Oosha internet connection, we recommend that you run a Oosha Broadband Speedtest to measure your current broadband speed.
You may also want to confirm the guaranteed minimum download speed that you have subscribed to from Oosha.
You can find this info by checking a Oosha broadband bill, your Oosha contract or by contacting Oosha.
Likely causes of Oosha’s slow broadband speed
Is it the Oosha internet connection that is slow or could it be your device (PC/laptop/phone)?
You need to consider how many applications are currently running on your device.
The performance problem could be due to over-utilization of your system resources e.g RAM/CPU and not an issue with Oosha’s broadband connection.
If you’re on a laptop then you can use the task manager to see your CPU and RAM usage.
On other device, you should try restarting the device which hopefully will shutdown all programs that may have been using up your systems resources.
Re-run the Oosha Speedtest on your PC and your mobile to check how the speed test results compare between the two devices.
This should hopefully provide you with some information to work with in terms of if the problem is with your device or the Oosha broadband connection.

Is your Wifi the cause of the performance issue?
The root cause of the performance problem may be your Wifi as opposed to the Oosha broadband internet connection.
You could rule out the wireless by connecting your computer directly to the Oosha broadband router with an ethernet cable and run the Oosha Speed checker again.
If the result improves when you’re connected using a network cable, this shows that the issue may be with your Wi-Fi network.
A number of things to look further into:
- Are the Wireless channels that you are using for your Wifi network network (SSID) overlapping with the neighbors?
- Is the wireless signal from the broadband router obstructed?
- Does the speed get better when your are standing directly in-front of the Oosha wireless router?
Who’s connected to my Wi-Fi network?
Have you checked that your Wi-Fi network password has not been hacked? Do you have an un-secured wireless network? How complex is your Wi-Fi network password? It could be time to change it.
Others could be using your Wifi network and eating up all your Oosha speed by downloading, uploading or even streaming music or video over your Oosha internet connection! Worse still, they could be carrying out illegal activities on your Oosha internet connection.

Here are three apps to use to analyze your Wi-Fi network to check who’s connected:
- Windows users can use Wireless network watcher
- MAC users can use whoFi (who is on my Wifi)
- Wireless scanning application WiFi Analyzer
The above applications analyse your Wifi network and display a list of the devices connected.
Do I need a Wifi network booster for my Oosha broadband?
If you find that you have wireless black spots in your home, a Wifi network extender aka a Wi-Fi Booster is the best fix to boost your Wi-Fi signal to cover any black spots.
The wireless network booster picks up your existing wireless signal just as it is becoming weaker and re-transmits the Wifi signal to increase it’s coverage.
Position the wireless network booster near the position where your Wi-Fi network signal from your Oosha internet router is becoming weaker.
Place it near where your wireless network signal is dropping down to less than two signal bars. Walk around your home with a tablet to find where this is.
When was the last time you upgraded the Oosha broadband router?

The Oosha and broadband infrastructure, in general, are constantly updated to provide new features and improve performance as technology evolves. Ensure that the Oosha broadband internet router is running on the most up-to-date software.
The majority of Oosha broadband routers will allow you to perform the software upgrade by simply logging on the Oosha broadband router and simply clicking a button to start the upgrade.
If you can’t do this, get in touch with Oosha and they will perform the upgrade for you or alternatively, talk you through the process.
As well as upgrading the software, if you have had router for a long time, it may be worth talking to Oosha to request for a hardware upgrade.
Is the cause of the problem outside your property (at the exchange)?
This is probably the most likely cause for Oosha broadband performance problems in your home and is more common with broadband connections that are delivered via phone lines.
If you are not sure if this is applicable to you, contact Oosha who should be able to run the relevant connection tests to check if there is a issue on the Oosha broadband connection.
Is the issue due to Oosha broadband congestion?
If you are finding that the Oosha broadband connection speed in your area is slow during certain times i.e. over weekends or during the evening, it may be due to congestion during peak times.
You should speak to Oosha to check your minimum speed.
