Troubleshooting SBBS broadband speed issues
Before you begin troubleshooting the performance of your SBBS internet connection, we recommend that you perform a SBBS Internet Speed Test to confirm your current broadband speed.

Common causes of SBBS’s slow internet speed
Is it the SBBS internet connection that is slow or could it be your device (laptop/smartphone/PC)?
You may need to check how many apps are currently running on your device.
The performance problem could be due to the over-utilization of your system resources e.g RAM/CPU and not a problem with SBBS’s internet connection.
If you are on a computer then you can use the task manager to check your CPU and Memory utilisation.
On any other device, you should try restarting the device which hopefully should shut down all programs that may have been hogging your device resources.
Re-run the SBBS Speed checker on your PC and your phone to check how the results compare between the two devices.

Is your Wifi the reason for the issues?
The cause of the performance issue may be your internal Wifi network as opposed to the SBBS broadband connection.
You could rule out the Wi-Fi network by simply connecting your computer directly into the SBBS broadband router with a network cable and run the SBBS Speedtest again.
If the result improves when you are connected by an ethernet cable, this indicates that the problem may be with the wireless.
A few other things to investigate:
- Are the WiFi channels that you are using for your wireless network (SSID) overlapping with the neighbours?
- Is the Wifi signal from the wireless router obstructed?
- Does your performance get better when your are stood directly infront of the SBBS wireless router?
Who is connected to my wireless network?
Have you checked that your wireless network password has not been compromised? Do you have an open Wifi network? How complex is your Wi-Fi network password? It could be time to change it.
Neighbors could be using your wireless network and using up all your SBBS bandwidth by downloading, uploading or even streaming music or videos on your SBBS internet connection! Worse still, they could be carrying out illegal activities using your SBBS internet connection.

Do I need a Wifi network booster for my SBBS broadband?
If you discover that there are Wifi coverage holes in your property, a wireless extender also known as a Wi-Fi Booster may be the best solution to strengthen your Wi-Fi signal to cover any black spots.
The wireless network booster simply picks up the existing Wifi signal as it is starting to become weaker and re-transmits the Wi-Fi network signal to extend it’s reach.
Position the wireless network booster near where your Wifi signal from your SBBS internet router is becoming weaker.
Place it approximately where your Wifi network signal is dropping down to two signal bars. Walk around your house with a tablet to determine where this location is.
When was the last time you upgraded the SBBS internet router?
The SBBS and broadband infrastructure, in general, are frequently upgraded to provide new features and improve performance as technology evolves. Ensure that the SBBS broadband internet router is running on the latest software.

If you are finding that the SBBS internet connection speed in your area is slows down during certain times e.g over weekends and evenings, then it may be due to congestion during peak times.
