Troubleshooting Timico internet speed issues

Before starting to troubleshoot the performance of your Timico internet connection, we suggest that you run a Timico Broadband Speedtest to confirm your current connection speed.

It is a good idea to also confirm the guaranteed minimum download speed that you on your broadband package from Timico.

Is your wireless network the cause of the performance issue?

The cause of the performance problem could be your wireless network and not the Timico broadband internet connection.

You can rule out the Wifi by simply connecting your PC directly into the Timico broadband router using a network cable and then run the Timico Speed test again.

If the speed checker result is better when you are connected by a network cable, this suggests that the problem could be with your Wifi.

A few other things to investigate:

• Are the WiFi channels that you’re using for your Wi-Fi network network (SSID) overlapping with your neighbours?
• Is your Wifi network signal from the wireless router obstructed?
• Does your speed get better when your are stood directly in-front of the Timico internet router?

Have you checked that your Wifi network password has not been hacked? Do you have an un-secured wireless network? How complex is your Wi-Fi network password? It may be time to update it.

Neighbors could be using your wireless network and eating up all your Timico bandwidth by downloading, uploading or even streaming music or videos over your Timico broadband connection! Worse than that, they may be conducting illegal activities on your Timico internet connection.
