Troubleshooting TitanADSL broadband speed problems

Before you start troubleshooting the speed of your TitanADSL broadband connection, we recommend that you run a TitanADSL Internet Speed Test to benchmark your current connection speed.
You may also want to find out the guaranteed minimum download speed you have subscribed to from TitanADSL.
You can get this info by checking your TitanADSL broadband bill, your TitanADSL contract or by contacting TitanADSL.
Probable causes of TitanADSL’s slow internet speed
Is it your TitanADSL broadband that is slow or is it your device (PC/laptop/phone)?
You may need to check the number of applications are running on your device.
The speed problem may be due to over-utilization of your device’s resources i.e RAM/memory/CPU Processor and as opposed to an issue with TitanADSL’s broadband connection.
If you are on a PC then you can use the task manager to check your Processor and Memory utilization.
On any other device, you should try rebooting the device which hopefully will terminate all apps that may have been using up your systems resources.
Run the TitanADSL Speedtest on your computer and your mobile phone to see how the speed test results differ between the two devices.
This should hopefully provide you with more info to help determine whether the issue lies with your device or the TitanADSL broadband connection.

Is your Wifi the reason for the issues?
The root cause of the performance issue could be your Wi-Fi network as opposed to the TitanADSL broadband connection.
You can rule out the Wifi by simply connecting your PC directly into the TitanADSL broadband router with an ethernet cable and run the TitanADSL Speed test again.
If the performance improves when you’re connected via an ethernet cable, this suggests that the problem may be with the internal wireless network.
Possible things to investigate:
- Are the WiFi channels that you are using for your Wifi network (SSID) overlapping with the neighbors?
- Is your wireless network signal from the broadband router obstructed?
- Does your speed improve when you’re stood right in-front of the TitanADSL internet router?
Who’s connected to my Wifi network?
Have you checked that your wireless network password has not been shared? Do you have an un-secured Wifi network? How complex is your wireless network password? It may be time to change it.
Neighbours could be on your Wi-Fi network and eating up all the TitanADSL speed by downloading, uploading or even streaming music or video on your TitanADSL internet connection! Worse still, they may be carrying out illegal activities on your TitanADSL broadband connection.

There are 3 applications that you can utlise to analyse your Wifi network to see who’s connected:
- Microsoft Windows users can use Wireless network watcher
- MAC users can use whoFi (who is on my Wifi)
- WiFi scanning application WiFi Analyzer
The above apps will scan your Wi-Fi network and display a list of the devices connected.
Should I get a Wifi booster for my TitanADSL broadband?
If you find that you have Wi-Fi black spots in your house, a Wi-Fi network extender also known as a Wi-Fi Booster may be the best solution to strengthen your Wi-Fi signal to cover any black holes.
The wireless extender picks up the existing wireless signal just as it is becoming weaker and re-transmits the Wifi network signal to increase it’s reach.
Position the wireless extender where your wireless network signal from your TitanADSL internet router is becoming weaker.
Place it approximately where your wireless signal is dropping down to less than two signal bars. Walk around your house with a mobile phone to try and establish where this location is.
When was the last time you upgraded the TitanADSL broadband router?

The TitanADSL and broadband infrastructure, in general, are frequently updated to support new features and improve performance as technology evolves. Ensure that your TitanADSL broadband router is running on the most up to date software.
The majority of TitanADSL internet routers allow you to perform the software update by logging into the TitanADSL broadband router and simply clicking a button to perform the upgrade.
If you cannot do this, contact TitanADSL and they will perform the upgrade for you or guide you through performing the upgrade yourself.
As well as upgrading the software, if you have had hardware for a long time, it is worth speaking to TitanADSL to request for a hardware upgrade.
Is the fault outside your property (at the exchange)?
This is probably the most likely reason for TitanADSL broadband performance problems in your property and it’s more common with broadband connections that are delivered through phone lines.
If you are unsure if this is relevant in your case, you should contact TitanADSL who will be able to carry out the relevant connection checks to see if there is a fault on the TitanADSL broadband connection.
Is it due to TitanADSL broadband congestion?
If you’re finding that the TitanADSL internet connection speed in your area is slows down during certain periods i.e. weekends and evenings, it may be because of congestion during peak times.
You should contact TitanADSL to check your minimum speed.
